Albert Roy is a Godan, or 5th degree black belt, in Shudokan Karate, and is the founder and chief instructor at Eugene School of Karate.
Training in karate from the age of 10, he achieved his first degree black belt at the age of 16. He began competing in tournaments locally and regionally throughout the Northwest and even at the National and International level,
where he consistently placed in kata and weapons competitions. He was rated a national A-level referee with the AAU, and received his coaching credentials through the American Coaching Effectiveness Program (ACEP).
Before moving to Oregon, he and his wife attended university and taught karate in Washington, where he received a Master’s degree in effective teaching methods from Central Washington University.
